Richard R. Lapierre
June 28th, 1936 - September 18th, 2018
"South Hadley-Richard R. Lapierre, 82, passed away September 18, 2018 at St. Vincent's Hospital. Born June 2, 1936 in Chicopee, he was the son of Ernest and Edna (Duval) Lapierre. Richard has resided in South Hadley since 1973. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. Richard was also a member of the Elks. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margo E. (Viamari) and his second wife, Gail E. (Morren). He is survived by his children, Kevin Lapierre and his wife Kim of Sugarland, TX and Sharon Howland of Sturbridge. He also leaves 7 grandchildren, Rachel, Joshua, Jenna, Sarah, JJ, Joan and Jeffrey, 2 step children, Tony Clini and Donna Horton, both of TX, along with his niece Donna and nephew, Gary, and many close fiends. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the love, care and support that was provide to Richard from his neighbors, Stanley, Joe and Kathy and to the staff at The Overlook in Charlton, MA for their extraordinary care and compassion. Besides his parents and wives, Richard was predeceased by his brother Ernest Lapierre. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 27th from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. A service of remembrance will follow at 6:30 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery on Friday at 10:30 a.m..
