Mr. Boone was ready and talked of meeting his Christ, his late wife Ruby, his parents & his sisters. Born March 31,1919 in Denton, NC to Willa Warner and William Everett Boone, Sr. He moved to Charlotte, NC when he was in grade school. He was very proud of his party officiate. He always displayed it proudly on his caps. He was proud to be a Yellow Dog Democrat & enjoyed their meetings when he was able to attend. But his most favorite pastime was telling his stories to whomever would listen. He had a story or two almost every day of his life! When he was able he enjoyed gardening. He always had a pretty yard and enjoyed going out to look it over. His first job was for Pender's Grocery Store. For the next 35 years, he worked for the US Postal Service. Upon starting that job, he was drafted into the Army. He served in WWII in Algiers & Italy. Everett joined the Optimist Club as a young man. He enjoyed the fund raisers they had for the youth, which included a Christmas Tree Lot each year, the Soap Box Derby races and the conventions. He served as President in 1964-1965. He was awarded a Lifetime Service Award for 1975-1976. Everett was very fortunate to retire in 1974. He was a member of The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. He faithfully attended their meetings as long he was able. He was awarded a Honorary Life Membership to NARFE in October 2004. After retirement, Everett and his wife volunteered at Crisis Assistance of Charlotte for 8 years. He and his wife enjoyed traveling all over the United States, Canada & Europe. He loved pulling their travel trailer all over the United States before parking it for many years at Lakewood Campground at Surfside Beach, SC. Everett was a faithful member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Charlotte for over 60 years. He was a member of the Methodist Men and was awarded a service pin by the United Methodist Women for his service. There he assisted in getting their Loaves and Fishes program up and running. He was a member of the Sam Hinson Bible Class until he was no longer able to attend. Then he faithfully watched First Presbyterian Church on TV each Sunday morning.
