"Ware - Todd Anthony Gentile passed away of natural causes after a long illness on April 29, 2019 at the age of 72. Todd was born in Springfield on Dec. 26, 1946 and was the son of Louis Gentile and the late Elizabeth Gentile of Belchertown. He was predeceased by his first wife Ann Kelly Gentile and survived by his former wife Diane Dubuque. Todd leaves behind his beloved son Tad A. Gentile and his wife Erica Renzi-Gentile of Palm City, Florida; and daughters Christine Gentile Mariani and her husband Rico of Monson; and Carrie Gentile of Lake Placid, NY; as well as cherished grandchildren Jordan, Mackenzie, Aiden, and Aria. He is also survived by his brother Gary and his wife Anna of Long Island, N.Y.; sister Susan Setkewich and her husband Steve of Somers, C.T.; sister Robin Gentile and her longtime partner John Gilbert of Springfield; brother Adam Gentile and his wife Theresa of Barre; and several nieces and nephews. Todd lived in the area all his life, having grown up on his parent’s farm on Warren Wright Road in Belchertown. He graduated from Belchertown High School in 1964 where he played varsity basketball and baseball. He graduated from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts with a degree in dairy technology in 1966 and soon thereafter began working at Hood LLC in Agawam, as a milk tester. He went on to work as a water systems tester, postal carrier, gas station manager, and retired from Cast ion as an inventory specialist.Todd’s hobbies and passions were reading; camping and traveling; watching college football, the Detroit Lions and horse racing; routing for all UMASS Amherst sports teams and NASCAR’s #33 Harry Gant. He loved caring for dogs, even walking and caring for his neighbor’s dogs. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke and laugh with friends and family. He played darts for many years at the VFW post 2577 in Ware and was a member of the Weir River Club.A private memorial service will be held this summer. Todd was an animal lover; in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to the Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center at 627 Cottage Street Springfield, MA 01104.
