"SOUTH HADLEY - Elva J. Jeanne McLaughlin passed away at the age of 88 in her home on May 10, 2019. She was the beloved wife for 41 years of Clayton L. She was born in Fairville, New Brunswick, Canada where she began her training as a registered nurse. Mrs. McLaughlin loved working with her colleagues and patients as a medical assistant for 35 years at Springfield Eye Associates, retiring in November 2017. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Mrs. McLaughlin’s life will he held on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm at the Willits-Hallowell Center, Mount Holyoke College, 25 Park Street, South Hadley, Massachusetts. The funeral will be private and will be arranged by Beers & Story in South Hadley. Memorial donations to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in lieu of flowers, would be greatly appreciated. The family is grateful to many but would especially like to thank Dr. Mark Awad and his colleagues at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Ms. Peg Roeder and Ms. Samantha Wong of Beacon Hospice, Ms. Anne Marie Ferraro of Pioneer Valley Home Care, and Reverend Scott Seabury for their care and compassion which will forever be remembered. Elva is dearly loved, and will be in our thoughts, prayers and hearts every day."
