Mrs. Tippett, 91, died July 2, 2014, at Novant Healthcare in Charlotte, NC. Catherine was born in Walhalla, SC, January 21, 1923, the daughter of the late George and Sue Taylor King. Mrs. Tippett retired from Kellwood Industries after twenty five years of service and started a second career at Park Lanes Bowling Alley retiring in 2003. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and gardening. In addition to her parents Mrs. Tippett was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Henry Tippett and daughter, Marsha Tippett Grizzle. Survivors include her children, Don Tippett and wife, Rebecca; Nancy Tippett; Walter Tippett; George Tippett; Phyllis Hammond and husband, Cliff; Grandchildren, Joey Tippett and wife, Stacie; Cynthia Astacio; Marcie Morris and husband, Scott; Shelley Tippett; Daniel Hammond; and Monica Grizzle; her beloved great grandson, C.J. Astacio, and great grandchildren Evelyn and Lillian Tippett, Max Morris and Maci Len Hammond. A graveside service to celebrate Mrs. Tippett's life will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in Sharon Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the charity of the Donor's Choice.
