Raymond Donat Roux Mr. Roux, 77 of Denver, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at his residence. He was born on April 1, 1937 in Kingston, NY the son of the late Raymond Augustus Roux and Mildred Louise Magee Roux. Ray met his future wife at the age of 15 when they had their first date. He loved to tell everyone "the story" of this event. He married Gail on December 1, 1956 and they have been best friends and sweethearts before and ever since. Words alone could never express the man he was. A tremendously devoted family man, he was an example of fidelity to his wife Gail for his sons to imitate as husbands, and an example of loving, strength for his sons to follow as fathers. As a man of Faith, he was quietly devoted to God. When in his final suffering, with very little strength to speak, he was asked to renew his baptismal promises and he responded with strength, "I do" to each question, "do you believe in God the Father?, In His Son Jesus Christ?, The Holy Spirit?, the Holy Catholic Church?, etc." The next day he prayed with a similar strength the Lord's Prayer. He wished the same faith for his sons and grandchildren. Born in Kingston NY, he moved his family to Camden, SC in 1961 and there raised his four sons as a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish. In 2003 he and Gail moved to Denver, NC, becoming parishioners of Holy Spirit parish. He was proud to be a Knight of Columbus, joyfully received his exemplification to the 4th Degree in September of 2013. Mr. Roux is survived by his wife, Gail; sons, Donat Raymond Roux and his wife, Amy of Goldsboro, NC, Michael William Roux and his wife, Ginny of Rock Hill, SC, Fr. Christopher Alan Roux of Charlotte, NC, and David Thomas Roux and his wife, Joycelyn of Abilene, TX; grandchildren, Brandon, Jessica, Cameron, Samantha, Emma Claire, Lacie, Taylor, Jeremiah and Nicholas; and great-grandchildren, Jalynn and Liam. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:30 AM Thursday, July 3, 2014 at The Cathedral of Saint Patrick, 1621 Dilworth Road East, Charlotte, NC 28203 with the Very Rev. Christopher A. Roux, Principal Celebrant. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. A vigil and Rosary will be at 6:30 PM, Wednesday evening at the Cathedral followed by family visitation until 9:00 PM and also Thursday morning from 8:30 until 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Te Deum Foundation, 2767 London Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. www.tedeumfoundation.org
