Selma Hilda Sussman
September 11th, 1928 - October 11th, 2017
Selma Hilda Davidson Sussman, age 89, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. She was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel Davidson and Minnie Stillman Davidson. She was born in Dorchester, MA. Selma will be best remembered for her editorial skills, working at American Hoescht in New Jersey and also for Belk Retail Services in Charlotte, NC. She was a great lover of classical music and a great supporter of the arts in general, and enjoyed playing the piano all of her life. She enjoyed world travel and especially trips to see her family in France and travelling along with them. She also loved to knit and worked for Bernat Yarns before getting married. Selma was a volunteer for over 21 years at The Shepherd Center for seniors in Charlotte. Selma is survived by her daughters Janet Sussman of Charlotte, NC and Wendy Stern and her husband, Alain Stern of Paris, France and her son Phillip Sussman of Huntersville, NC; her two grandchildren, Jessica Baudin and David Baudin and his wife, Pauline; and two great granddaughters, Noemi and Emilie Baudin. In addition to her late parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Joseph I. Sussman and her late brother, Leon Davidson. Funeral services for Selma will begin promptly at 10:00 on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203. Interment will be private. One of the many causes that Selma believed in was the support of Cancer Research. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave. Suite # 100, Charlotte, NC 28207. Arrangements in care of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service.
