Roxann Rochelle Brunhart
February 7th, 1955 - December 3rd, 2013
Roxann R. Brunhart, 58, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on December 3, 2013, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A native of Wisconsin, Roxann happily accepted a transfer to more temperate Charlotte. She loved her decades-long career at McKesson Corporation, where she was a hard-working health care information technology professional. Her leadership and mentoring will long be apparent in those she left behind. Possessed with child-like curiosity and joy, Roxann was a good listener and independent thinker. Her interests ranged from travel to science fiction, from her beloved pets to her cherished family and friends. She loved the challenge of playing games and was known to sing with joyful abandon. She was an energetic cheerleader for the causes she loved, and a great supporter of her many friends. Her spirit remained on display to the end, as she responded to "how are you" queries with replies like, "It's a good day to be alive!" Her uplifting smile will be held close in the hearts of those who loved her. Chief among Roxann's loves was her partner of 21 years, Jeanne Downs. The distinct rightness of their pairing was readily apparent to their extensive circle of loved ones. Roxann is survived by brothers, Tom Brunhart, Milwaukee, WI; Andrew Brunhart (Tina) and Troy Brunhart, San Diego, CA; sisters, Kimberly Heart, Long Beach, CA, and Akasha Heart (Patrick), Salem, Oregon; sister-in-law, Angie Brunhart, niece, Kelly Brunhart and nephew, Tyler Brunhart, Milwaukee, WI. Roxann graced the world with imagination and a clever, playful spirit that will be sorely missed by her family and friends. A memorial celebration of her life will be held after the holidays. Special thanks are due to her doctors, Jason Lewis, Reza Nazemzadeh, and Connie Edelin; the caring staff of Levine Cancer Institute and her care team from Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte, 2700 Toomey Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28203 or Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 East 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204.
