Marvin Wayne Montgomery, affectionately known as Marty, died suddenly, Sunday, May 20, 2018 at his home. Marty was born in Charlotte, NC on August 24, 1959 and grew up in the Akron, Ohio area. Marty is survived by his wife of 18 years, Cheryl; his sister, Debbie Jones of FL, his sister, Eva Spangler of OH; 2 daughters, Elizabeth (Beth) Montgomery of Andrews, NC, Katie of Montgomery of Atlanta, GA. Marty worked as a Road Driver for YRC. Marty enjoyed his job and worked hard at being a professional at all times. Marty was an avid Cleveland Browns, Ohio State, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles (St. Louis) Rams fan. Marty was a wonderful loving husband, father, son, brother-in-law, foster father and friend to many. Marty will be sorely missed. A visitation will take place from 5 PM to 7 PM Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203 Contributions in Marty’s memory may be made to Humane Society, 2700 Toomey Ave., Charlotte, NC 28203.
