M. Florine Neggers

Belchertown-Mildred Florine (Harrell) Neggers, 86, passed away peacefully at home October 13, 2021. Born in Poulan, GA, on February 23, 1935, she was the daughter of Ruben and Mildred (Cook) Harrell. Florine lived in Belchertown since 1962 and was very involved in the town. She was citizen of the year in 2002 and a lifetime member of the Belchertown Historical Society, also serving as former trustee. She chaired the Belchertown Senior Center Building Committee and committed herself to civic duty after the passing of her husband, Leo, in 1990. As a teacher at Pathfinder Technical High School, Florine taught many students during her time there. She was a communicant of St. Francis Church and will be deeply missed by her family. Florine is survived by her seven children, Jacob Neggers of Belchertown, Bonnie Neggers (Tom Narcavage) of Medford, Carla Neggers (Joe Jewell) of Quechee, VT, Hilda Stilwell (Gerald) of Douglas, MA, Gretchen Neggers of Monson, Mark Neggers (Kathy) of Katonah, NY, and Jeffrey Neggers (Janine) of Meredith, NH, as well as 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her brothers: John, George and Julian Harrell. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 19th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Church. Burial will follow in South Cemetery.
