David P. West
April 8th, 1942 - November 11th, 2021
Belchertown - David P. West, 79 passed away November 11, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 8, 1942 in Holyoke, MA to David E. and Henrietta (Colty) West. David was raised in Holyoke and has lived in Belchertown for 50 years. He was a member of St. Francis Church. He retired in 1997, after working for over 30 years as a lab technician for BASF Company in Holyoke. David enjoyed spending time outdoors, hiking at Quabbin Reservoir, fishing, gardening and simply tinkering around. David also enjoyed collecting antique cars, traveling, trips to Disneyworld, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, Lana (Anderson) West of Belchertown and three daughters, Michelle Amlaw (Bob) of Belchertown, Shari LaRock (Dave) of Belchertown and Laurie Bessette of Palmer. He is also survived by five siblings, Anne Ruth, Steven West, Suzanne West, John West and Christine Gilbert. He also leaves 7 precious grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, Erin Knechtel (Derrick) and their children's Lucy and John, Samantha DeSantis (Vinnie) and their children Daxon & Lucas, Karina Amlaw, Emily, Nicholas, Benjamin LaRock, Elizabeth Dunham and Alexander Bessette. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 18th at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lake Vale Cemetery in Belchertown. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association.
