Janice J Wooster

Janice J Wooster, lovingly known as “Gigi” and “Gamma”, passed away on Sept 24, 2018 at the age of 91. She was the daughter of the late Helen Aston Jacobsen and George Jacobsen, and was born in Troy, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy D Wooster, Jr. She is survived by her son, Roy D Wooster III of Geneva, NY & Hilton Head, SC, and her daughter, Deborah L Wooster (Brenda Kennerly) of Chapin, SC. She had two grandchildren, Matthew Wooster (Jacqueline) and Concetta Wooster Valerie, both of Geneva, NY. She had five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wooster attended Bethlehem Central High School and Pratt Institute in New York City majoring in Interior Design. She lived for some years in High Point, NC, raising her children. She worked for several furniture companies where she was an interior designer and decorator for showrooms and private homes. She and her husband Roy retired to Skidaway Island in Savannah, GA, and later enjoyed living in Long Boat Key, FL. After her husband’s passing, she moved to Hilton Head, SC where they had spent many years enjoying the area. She spent her last two and half years in Chapin, SC to be close to her family. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Chapin, SC. She will be remembered for her love of animals and nature, and of the way she made each person she met feel special when she spoke with them. She was loved by many for her kindness, sense of humor, and adventurous spirit. She loved to read and loved the arts and music. She has left an indelible impression on those she met throughout her life. Celebration of Life gatherings are planned to be held in Chapin, SC and in Hilton Head, SC, with dates to be determined. A future date for Mrs. Wooster’s memorial service has not yet been set, but will be a private ceremony in Hilton Head, SC.
