Beers and Story - Belchertown
Edward Lattrell
January 14th, 1947 - March 14th, 2023
Belchertown-Edward Lattrell, better known as Ted, and husband of Alice (Bovat), passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. He was born in Indian Orchard to Doris and Edward Lattrell. He grew up in Indian Orchard and graduated from Tech High School. Ted married his high school sweetheart but divorced in the 80s. She gave him 2 beautiful children, Patrice Lattrell of Pittsfield and Edward (Robbie) and his fiancé Cheri of Springfield. After high school, Ted worked as a technician at Chapman Valve. He left that job to earn his journeymen license in meat cutting. He worked in several supermarkets as a meat cutter and then as a meat manager at the A & P. Once again, he changed his profession to work for his Uncle John Marshal at Hillcrest Orchards. He stayed in this job until he became a care giver for his uncle and the orchard was sold to become a golf course. Ted was a wonderful cook and shopper. Alice can vouch for that as she struggled to cook her meals. He also was a great gardener and always grew enough to give away. Ted loved traveling, especially to Aruba every year to their time share as well as cruises to the Caribbean. Everybody knows how he loved animals, he was never without a dog. Besides his wife, Alice and his 2 children, Ted leaves his sister, Judy Koob, and her children, Kristie and her partner Andrea, Kyle and his wife Jesse and baby and a son, Dennis Jr. and Sarah and their four children. Ted also leaves several cousins and his dear dog, Zack, who misses him dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Uncle John, Aunt Flora and his brother-in-law, Dennis, who lived next door. Visitation will be Wednesday March 22nd from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Shelter, 627 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104.
