Berkley (Buck) Lamont Rish

Berkley (Buck) Lamont Rish, 89, of Lexington, SC died December 27, 2023. A memorial service will be held January 6, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Mill City Church of Cayce. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. Buck is survived by his wife, Mary Rish, sister, Wilhelmina Price-Bivens of Woodville, Virginia, son and daughter-in-law, Monty and Michelle Rish of Lexington, stepsons, Clark and Liza Biggers of Westfield, New Jersey, and Wes and Brooke Biggers of Norfolk, VA. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Anderson Rish, Dwight Rish, Ethan Rish, Mattison and Sam Taylor, and Truman Caughman. He is predeceased by his first wife, Joan S. Rish, son, Robert (Bob) Rish, and his brothers, David Rish, Keith Rish, and sister, Ester Rish. Buck was a graduate of Wake Forest University BS, MD, and Vanderbilt University (Neurosurgery). He was also a US Navy veteran, a flight surgeon, and retired as Captain. He continued in private practice and research in micro-neurosurgery as a professor of Clinical Neurosurgery at Eastern Virigina Medical School, Norfolk, Virginia. He continued to publish professional articles until 2020 and wrote 10 fictional novels. He loved playing golf, and playing the banjo in the Cypress Landing Jazz Band. His love of the bandits and sailing was known to all. Donations to honor him can be made to the Wake Forest University School of Medicine MD 1958 Endowment Fund.
