Daniel Lee Thomas, 86, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away on October 3, 2022 following a long illness. Dan was born in Bokchito, Oklahoma on February 27th, 1936, to Lena and Bedford Thomas, and had one little sister, Molly. After serving in the Army, he followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, and worked in the railroad industry his entire career. In 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Weslene McClendon, and they recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Dan’s family was his greatest joy, and he and Weslene spent most vacations visiting family or meeting them for camping excursions. In addition to his wife, Weslene, Dan is survived by his sister, Molly Bonnet (Richard), and his sons, Danny Thomas (Nancy) of West Columbia, SC, Terry Thomas (Dena) of Clover, SC, and Glenn Thomas (Angela) of Murfreesboro, TN, his grandchildren Jake (Jordan), Ethan (PJ), Logan (Lisa), Raeann, Maddie, Roman, Corbin, Callen, Daelyn, Mason, and Sydne Thompson (Colin), and four great-grandsons, Niko, Henry, Ronen, and Elias. He was predeceased by his parents. Dan’s memorial is to be held as a family celebration of his life. Memorial donations may be made to Palmetto Bible Camp through Palmetto Church of Christ, Columbia, SC. South Carolina Cremation Society is assisting the family.
