Thorndike—Kathryn “Kay” P.(Watson) Bolton, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Life Care Center of Wilbraham. Daughter of the late George and Kathryn (McQueen) Watson, she was born in Springfield on December 9, 1935. She was a 1953 graduate of Chicopee High School. She wanted to be a history teacher and she studied at Westfield State University. Kathryn met the love of her life, John Dale Bolton Sr., during this time and they were married July 14, 1956 in Bangor, Maine. Kathryn devoted her adult life to raising her three sons and caring for her husband in his later years. She attended many little league and high school baseball, basketball, and football games for many years and enjoyed fishing with her sons and grandchildren. She took pride in her role as area manager for Brooks Drug in Palmer, Ware, and Springfield, MA for over 20 years where she specialized in training new managers and opening new stores. In her retirement, Kathryn enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, camping, and games with friends. Kathryn will be dearly missed by all who knew her, including her three sons, John Bolton Jr. (Leigh) of Ocala, Florida, George Bolton (Lisa) of Bluff City, TN, and Jeffrey (Lisa) Bolton of Holland, MA; her brothers, Thomas Watson of Sturbridge, and George Watson Jr. of Amherst; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Kathryn is predeceased by her loving husband, John Dale Bolton, Sr. Friends and family are invited to meet in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1076 Thorndike St, Palmer, MA, for Kathryn's Mass of Christian Burial which will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022. Rites of Committal and Interment to immediately follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker St, Springfield, MA 01129. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Greater Springfield Senior Services, Inc.?66 Industry Avenue, Suite 9, Springfield, MA 01104.
