John Francis Sugrue
November 4th, 1941 - December 1st, 2022
Palmer- John Francis Sugrue, 81, passed away December 1, 2022. He was born on November 4, 1941 in Holyoke to the late James and Mary (Rougeau) Sugrue. John and his wife, Carol, owned a flower shop in Brooklyn, NY for several years. In 1970, they relocated back to MA where he began working at McDonald's Flower Shop in Palmer and later at Molta's Florist supply in Springfield. John was a communicant of Divine Mercy Parish and was active in the Men's Guild, Amvets, and the Palmer Food Pantry. He was truly loved by all for his great sense of humor, patience, and the endless love he had for his family. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his two brothers, James and Robert Sugrue. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carol (Johnson) Sugrue; son, Chris and wife, Mary Jane, of Belchertown; son, Damian and wife, Amy, of North Grafton; and his grandchildren, John, Mike, Hannah, Caeden, and Caroline. Visitation will be held Tues. Dec. 6th from 3-7pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Wed. Dec 7th at 9am for a funeral procession to Divine Mercy Parish for John's Funeral Mass at 10am. Burial will immediately follow in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory can be made to the Palmer Food Pantry.
