Catherine M. Lenard

Catherine M Lenard died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and dedicated caregivers on February 1, 2023. She was 94. Catherine (Rena) Lenard was born in Springfield, MA, to Angelina and Frank Valley. She and her husband, Roy Lenard, were long-time residents of Palmer and Brimfield, MA, where they brought up their four daughters. Catherine was a graduate of Becker College, and worked for Tambrands, Inc. as a payroll clerk before starting a family. Many will remember Catherine in her second career as owner of Happy Valley Pizza in Palmer, a favorite among generations of locals. Upon retirement, Catherine and Roy moved to the beach community of Fort Myers FL, enjoying many memorable years together. After her husband’s death in 2000, Catherine remained in Ft Myers, and enjoyed many more years of travel and activities with her large group of friends—returning north for summer visits with her growing family. Catherine leaves four devoted daughters: Carrie Lenard and partner Kevin Richards, of New Salem, MA; Catherine (Lenard) Johnson of Wales, MA; Cristen Lenard-DeTour and husband Al DeTour of Belchertown, MA; and Caron Lenard and husband Mark Campbell of Brimfield, MA. Catherine was extremely proud of her 6 grandchildren, their spouses, and her 5 great-grandchildren. A gracious hostess for every gathering, she taught her family how to enjoy life, and by example, how to practice patience and kindness. Sweet “Nonnie” is forever in our hearts. Catherine will be missed by her youngest sister, Ann Marie (Valley) Kachinoski of Long Island, NY. She will be remembered fondly by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. A Celebration of Life and private burial will be held for close friends and family in the Spring.
