Richard Raymond Jensen
February 11th, 1944 - March 25th, 2023
Palmer -Richard R. Jensen, 79, passed away March 25, 2023, at his home. He was born on February 11, 1944, in Ware, MA to Walter and Stella (Sowa) Jensen. Richard was a lifelong resident of Palmer and proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He retired after serving his community as a police officer for 23 years with the Monson Police Department. Richard was a member of Amvets in Palmer and the American Legion Post 420 in Springfield. In his leisure he enjoyed hunting, playing horseshoes and cards, especially pitch. He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Griswold) Jensen of Palmer, two children, Anthony Jensen (Sarah) of Brimfield and Nancy Kennedy (Brendan) of Palmer. He will also be missed by 3 grandchildren, Adam and Erin Jensen and Eli. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother Walter "Sonny" Jensen. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Mar. 31st from 5:00-7:00pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday Apr. 1st at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Second Chance Animal Shelter, 111 Young Rd., East Brookfield, MA 01515.
