Agnes P Beckham
February 14th, 1944 - June 5th, 2020
Agnes P. Beckham, 76, of Chapin, South Carolina passed away June 5, 2020. Born in Newberry on February 14, 1944, she was a daughter of Carrie (McSwain) Pritchard and the late James D. Pritchard. She is a graduate of Dreher High School and attended the University of South Carolina in the early 60’s where she was a featured twirler with the USC Marching Band along with her twin sister. She was married to Ronald Eugene Beckham of Darlington, who preceded her in passing, and they had three children: Hack Beckham (Karen) of Portland, Oregon; Brandy Beckham Mills (Mark) of Rainbow City, Alabama; and Stacy Beckham (Kathy) of Birmingham, Alabama. In the 70’s she built the Beckham School of Dance in Eufaula, Alabama and taught ballet, tap, jazz, and baton to countless students. Later in life she returned to South Carolina and settled on Lake Murray, where she built and tended to a beautiful landscape. In addition to her three children, Agnes is survived by her mother Carrie Pritchard of Chapin, her sister Sally P. Wallace (Bo) of Newberry, her brother James D. Pritchard Jr. of Grapevine, Texas, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A private memorial service was held with family on June 7.
