James "Jimmy" Ira Myers

James Ira Myers, 62, of Pelion SC left this earthly plane on November 26, 2022 at Ridgeway Manor in Ridgeway, South Carolina. Jimmy was born on March 26, 1960 in Richland Washington, the sixth child of Ira Thomas Myers and Betty Harrod {LaFaver) Myers. When he was two, the family moved to Lakewood, Ohio when his father, a nuclear physicist, accepted a job with NASA. Prior to his graduation from high school, he earned the Boy Scouts of America's highest award, an Eagle Scout. Jimmy served an honorable two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chile. Following his mission, Jimmy graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education. He had also worked as a corrections officer in the state of Texas, assuring the safety of those in his charge. In his healthier years, Jimmy loved playing Santa Clause, with his ample girth and white beard giving him a real sense of authenticity. At the time if his death, he was married to the sweetheart of his youth and his soulmate, Brenda Fay (England) Myers. Jimmy was predeceased in death by his parents, and a sister, Alyssa Claire Myers Dodd. He is survived by his loving wife and his siblings, Nancy Robrecht (Terry), Claire Summerhill, Robert Myers (Sakiko), David Myers (Marsha), Rich Myers (Cici). Chris Myers and by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 1:00PM in the chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 2224 Augusta Hwy, Lexington, SC 29072 with a meal to follow the celebration of life.
