Sarah was born in Madison, WI on July 13, 1941 to Otto Carl Henning and Sarah Maude Rhodes. She went to be with Jesus peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the home of her son, Jeffrey Winch of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, sisters; Ruth, Dorothy, Diane and brothers, Earl and Bobby. She is survived by her three children, Kristin (Charles), Gregory (Shannon), and Jeffrey (Dawn), 12 grandchildren, Brittany, Brian, Bryce, Brenna, Brockton, Torri, David, Abigail, Haley, Joelle, Jacob & Jacklyn, 4 great-grandchildren, Cooper, Blakely, Westlyn and Trinity along with many nieces and nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Sarah graduated from Oregon High School in WI in 1960 and received her nursing license in June of 1975. Sarah worked as a nurse in both Long Beach and San Bernardino. She also owned and operated Pine Cone Home, a home for the elderly from which she retired. Sarah loved the simple things in life. She loved her family and always wanted updates as to what was happening with each member. She loved to dance and sing, she was a part of a square dance club in Lake Arrowhead in the late 70’s, she sang in multiple choirs from the “Singing Christmas Tree” to her local church choir at Twin Peaks Community Church. She loved her church and was rather active; she contributed to an annual quilting project, attended different Bible studies, and helped in as many ways as she was able. She was very generous and acknowledged that God had blessed her and would often share her blessings with others. She would rent rooms to people who needed a place to stay who couldn’t afford large rent payments, she very often only received enough money to help offset the cost of food and utilities. She was a volunteer at the crisis pregnancy clinic in Crestline and helped with a local community outreach organization to organize meals during the holiday season. She also had a crafty nature and would crochet baby blankets to give away to new babies. Sarah was a fun-loving gal who loved her friends and their weekly card games. She loved to have company and would be happy to sit on her beloved deck and share a cup of coffee and share stories or prepare meals to show her gratitude for the generous things people had done for her. She also had a love for her Shih Tzu doggies of which she had several over the years. Sarah wished for her remains to be dispersed in Colorado which will be done this spring by her family.
