Ridge Spring, South Carolina - Mary Katherine "Kathy" Johnson passed away on April 27, 2021. In remembrance, memorial services for Kathy Johnson will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Lexington Baptist Church Chapel, 308 E. Main Street, Lexington, SC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Tom's Den, 5062 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, sibling, and grandmother always sacrificing everything she had to provide for family members in need without hesitation. Her caring nature, contagious smile and positive attitude affected even those that met her even for the first time. She wanted to remain active through her final years and developed both an artist's touch and a green thumb. Kathy Smith Johnson was the daughter of the late Nita and Elvin Smith. Kathy was the wife of Bob Johnson, the mother to five children, and grandmother to twelve grandchildren. She was known for her creativity, independence, hard work, gardening, and non-stop home improvement projects. Her smile, laughter, and unmatched sense of humor were able to light up any room she entered. She loved children, and was always excited to see the gleam in their eyes whenever they were being mischievous. Kathy is survived by her husband, "Bob" Robert A. Johnson, Jr.; children Donald "Donnie" Johnson (Minde), Matt Johnson (Angela), Juanita Marie "Sissy" Boozer, Sarah Elizabeth Spears, and Lisa Turner; grandchildren Ragen Johnson, Austin McMehan, Morgan Boozer, Josh Boozer, Isaac McMehan, Noah Spears, Alex Boozer, Coit Johnson, Hannah Spears, Will Turner, Eli Johnson, and Kate Waters; brothers and sisters Jerry (Janie) Smith, Ann (Ligon) Dougherty, Walter Smith, Stephen (Linda) Smith, Susan Hite, Sharon Smith, Coralie (Archie) Sharpe, Jud (Christy) Smith, and Joe (Melinda) Smith, sister-in law Kitty Smith, brother-in-law Bill Gabali, cousins, and dozens of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Val Smith, Keith Smith, David Smith, and Laurelie Gabali, and brother-in-law Tommy Hite.
