Helen Slater, 85, of Granby, MA passed away peacefully on October 16, 2020 in Uniontown, PA. Helen was born in Holyoke to Joseph E. Goepfert and Helen Wilhelmina Bissel on March 14th, 1935. She spent her early adult life working as a telephone switchboard operator. She was an avid sewing enthusiast. She is predeceased by her husband Thomas E. Slater, her parents, her brother Joseph Jr., and her daughter Kathy. She leaves behind her son Michael of Connellsville, PA, daughter Mary Kay Pelton and her husband William of Westfield, MA, her son John of Avon Park, FL, her son Wayne and his wife Kim of Axton, VA, and her son David and his wife Darlene of Springfield, MA. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the West Street Cemetery in Granby, MA. In lieu of flowers we ask any donations be made to the charity of ones choice. Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
