Ellen Robinson Fletcher

Ellen Robinson Fletcher, age 98, of Columbia, passed away on November 18, 2021 at Fairforest Grove Senior Living facility. She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan Fletcher Clark (Ronald) of Irmo, S.C., grandson, Charles M. Crowson, III (Mona) and great-granddaughter, Livia of Charlotte, N.C., niece, Debbie Rosengrant and nephew, Jerry Robertson. Ellen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 76 years, Jesse H. Fletcher, Lt. Col. (USA, Ret.), daughter, Olivia F. Cullen, brother, William Jack Robertson and sister-in-law, Betty Jean Robertson, as well as her parents. Nellie (Ellen) Robinson was born on October 21, 1923, in Kershaw, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Alma I. Neal and Yancie E. Robinson. After finishing high school in Kershaw, she married a career military officer and was a devoted wife and mother of two daughters. Ellen enjoyed traveling in the USA and abroad as a military wife and made many friends along the way. A little over three years ago she moved from their last home in Campobello, S.C. to Fairforest Grove Senior Living (formerly Harbor Chase Assisted Living) in Columbia. She loved her new residence located two miles from her daughter in an apartment facing a lovely lake and assisted by many devoted caregivers and staff. The family gives special thanks to the staff at Fairforest Grove Senior Living for the years of devoted and loving care Mom received and also the nurses and care-givers with the Heart of Hospice for the clinical and personal care that improved her quality of life! In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the American Red Cross of S.C. or the charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 5637 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC. 29212. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm and the service will follow at 3 pm. A private service will be held at a later date at Fort Jackson National Cemetery to inter her remains with her husband’s.
