Ralph Plante
February 5th, 1928 - August 5th, 2021
Granby- Ralph "Pitt" Plante, Jr., 93, passed away August 5, 2021. He was born on February 5, 1928 in Holyoke to the late Ralph and Leona (Choiniere) Plante. Ralph proudly served his country as a United States Marine from 1946 to 1955 and later served in the Air National Guard where he formed lifelong friendships with those who honorably served alongside him. Following his military service, he worked as a supervisor at Monsanto for many years before retiring. Ralph was a life member of the Knights of Columbus in Chicopee and was recently awarded and named Immaculate Heart of Mary Veteran of the year in 2019. In his leisure, he enjoyed vacationing at his home on the cape with his wife, Eileen, spending time with his coffee club at Holyoke Hospital Rehab, and was an avid reader of military historical books and articles. Ralph will always be remembered for his kind heart and willingness to help those around him. One of his favorite organizations was St. Jude Children's Hospital and he made sure to always donate to their cause. Besides his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his three brothers, Leo, Paul, and Joseph Plante. He will be forever missed by his wife of 66 years, Eileen (Sullivan) Plante; son, Mark Plante and wife, Diane; son David Plante; and daughter, Lisa Liquori and husband, Al. He is also survived by his sister, Lorraine Lambert; grandchildren, Brian Plante, Elizabeth Lubas, and Joseph Liquori; as well as 4 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 12th from 12:30-1:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Ralph's burial will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. at the MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ralph's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital by visiting StJude.org. Please visit www.beersandstory.com to extend online condolences.
