Robert Andrew Methot
April 5th, 1935 - December 31st, 2023
South Hadley- Robert Andrew "Bob" Methot, 88, passed away December 31, 2023. He was born on April 5, 1935 in Holyoke to the late Andrew and Florence (Walker) Methot. Bob graduated from South Hadley High School in 1953 where he was the captain of the baseball and basketball teams. Bob's love for sports carried over into adulthood as he coached youth baseball, basketball, and football. He also won the Bill Everson Award for his contributions to local youth sports. Bob was a loving husband and a dedicated father. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Bob built an entire baseball field with a backstop and 4 bases in the backyard for their two young sons, which he turned into an ice-skating rink in winter months. Bob was self-employed in the carpet industry for many years. After a brief retirement, Bob began working as a custodian for the South Hadley Senior Center for an additional 16 years. Bob loved jazz music and enjoyed golfing. He also cherished the annual family trips to Disney World. Bob will be dearly missed by his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth (Blanchard) Methot, and their sons, Robert and Lisa Methot, and Billy and Margie Methot. He also leaves his grandchildren, Lauren (Jake) Martins, Adam (Kristine) Methot, Emilie (Mike) Crumpton, Kyle (Kaitlin) Methot, Meghan (Christ Rivera) Methot, Drew (Amy) Methot, Brieanne (Jeff Sawyer) Methot, Sara (Damon) Macon, and Ben (Wendy) Conway; great-grandchilren, Amelia, Avery, Beckett, Aurora, Savannah, Zahara, Kye, Kooper, Kamden, Kolton, Sawyer, Layne, Xavier, Madison, Evelyn, Eleanor, and Elizabeth. Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 9, 2024 from 3-6pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. A celebration of Bob's life will begin at 6pm. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's name can be made to the South Hadley Council on Aging, 45 Dayton St., South Hadley, MA, 01075.
