Eric L. Robinson

Eric L. Robinson, Network Engineer Eric Robinson, a systems engineer at Mitre Corporation, died of brain cancer on August 16 at his home. Eric, 48, was diagnosed with cancer a year ago. Born in Sacramento, CA on Mather Air Force Base, Eric Lloyd Robinson moved to the Northern Virginia area in 1979. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland, with a degree in computer science. He began his career in telecommunications at MCI, leading to a 19 year career with Verizon Corporation. In recent years, he specialized in high security network applications for Mitre Corporation. An avid golfer, tennis player, and skier, Mr. Robinson also volunteered as a Boy Scout leader and soccer coach for his children. He was an active member of Vienna Presbyterian Church. Some of his favorite things included working in his yard, manning the gas grill, tinkering with technology, craft beers, his Fantasy Football League, and quoting liberally from his favorite movies such as Caddy Shack, Princess Bride, Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter series. He was also an aficionado of Star Trek, and the Twilight Zone. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Catherine Dehoney, of Vienna; two children, Joseph, a student at Gettysburg College, and Jenna, a senior at James Madison High School; his father Dale Robinson of Charlottesville, VA; his mother, Susan Gordon of Lincoln City, OR; a brother; and a sister. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 25th at 4:00 pm at Vienna Presbyterian Church, 124 Park St. NE, Vienna, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Capital Caring Hospice
