Ann Venus Henry

Ann Venus Henry (85) began her journey through this world on January 17, 1934; born to the late Lionel and Ulie Frederick in Point-Fortin, Trinidad. She departed this life on February 25, 2019. She was preceded in death by her son, Dave B. Henry and siblings, Lenny Henry (brother) and Edna John (sister). Ann was educated in Trinidad, attending E.C. School. She also attended a Beauty School in Trinidad. She moved to Washington, DC in 1969 and earned a Nursing Degree at the University of the District of Columbia. Some of her favorite past times included traveling, tennis, swimming and shopping. Ann joined the Canaan Baptist Church, Washington DC and was a member of the Senior Ushers Ministry and the former Second (8:00 Clock) Choir. She served faithfully at Canaan, encouraging everyone she touched. She leaves to cherish her memory one son Alvin Anthony Henry; five grandchildren Anthony, Christopher, Marcus, Mark and Haneefa; six great-grandchildren Anninah, Forbes, Michael, Quanasia, Ming and Micheal; great-nephew, one brother Steve Henry; one niece Gemma and two-nephews Ashton and Anslem; and a number of distant relatives and friends who are too numerous to name, but who were special in so many ways. Family will receive visitors and friends on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Canan Baptist Church (1600 Newton Street, NW, Washington, DC); a Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. The Henry family extends sincere thanks and appreciation for the comforting messages, prayers and expressions of kindness and concern during this difficult time. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
