Erin Christine Bosch, aged 35, died at Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA, on Wednesday January 17, 2018 after a three-week battle with complications resulting from an unsuccessful heart transplant. Erin was born on March 23, 1982, at Fairfax Hospital, and was raised in Springfield and Annandale, VA. In 2012, Erin lost her mother, Anita, to heart failure caused by a cardiac condition known as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), a congenital disease which they both lived with their entire lives. Erin graduated in 2006 from Duquesne University with a Master of Physician Assistant degree. She began working as a Neurological PA, in September 2006, at George Washington University Hospital, coincidentally the same university that her mother received a Master of Physician Assistant degree approximately six years earlier. In 2009 Erin decided to take a position as an advanced practice provider with the Medical Critical Care Service at Inova Fairfax Hospital, for the next eight years Erin would save lives, make countless friends, spread her infectious giggle, and share her strong and vibrant personality with everyone that she came in contact with at Inova. She loved her job and she could not have imagined being a PA anywhere else in the world. She motivated both patients and colleagues alike, and her presence at Inova is one that will never be duplicated. Erin’s love of her work friends and family was only overshadowed by her love for her personal friends and family. A family that almost instantaneously grew by one when on Halloween night 2009, she met the man she would adore the rest of her days Thomas “Tommy” Fallon. Erin and Tommy were officially married in front of their friends and family on June 26, 2015, at Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyard, in Charlottesville, VA. They made their home in Arlington, VA, where their condo was full of love, laughter, remodeling projects, and animals. Erin and Tommy loved all things furry so throughout the years they shared their condo with three rabbits (Huckleberry d.2013, Finn d.2016, Sparky d.2016) and two cats (Fozzy and Hank). They enjoyed going on Bosch family vacations, sponsored by her dad Gordon, which included Hilton Head, SC, Lake Tahoe, CA, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Disney World. Family holidays at the Bosch and Smith (Tommy’s parents) homes were always a favorite of theirs as well; full of delicious food, captivating stories, wonderful laughs, and extremely competitive board gaming. They visited friends all over the country and Northern Virginia whenever they had a chance. Those visits were reciprocated many times over when Erin was admitted to the hospital on Dec 1, 2017 so that her transplant status could be upgraded from the 1B status that she was initially listed at in January 2017. Since finding out that Erin was in need of a transplant people from every facet of their lives continually provided prayers, love, and support to Erin, Tommy, and their families. Erin would have been humbled by the love and the selflessness that has been displayed by everyone on her behalf. Erin was preceded in death by her mother Anita Marie Bosch, in 2012, her grandfather Frank Louis Bosch, in 2004, and her grandmother Mary Christine Burch, in 2017. Erin is survived by her husband, Thomas “Tommy” Fallon (Arlington, VA); her father, Gordon Bosch (Fredericksburg, VA); her brother, Joel Bosch, sister-in-law, Kristen Bosch, and their two children Robert and Olivia Bosch (Annandale, VA); her brother, James Bosch, sister-in-law Daisy Bosch, and their two children Arthur and Theo Bosch (El Sobrante, CA); her father-in-law, Jeffrey Smith, mother-in-law, Elissa Smith (Culpeper, VA); her brother-in-law, Kenneth Fallon (Arlington, VA); her brother-in-law, Jeffrey Smith, his fiancé Rebecca and their three children Makayla, Mackenzie, and William (Conway, SC) her brother-in-law, Charles Smith (San Antonio, TX) her sister-in-law Mollie Smith (Harrisonburg, VA) and Mollie’s fiancé Samuel (Charlottesville, VA); and a multitude of uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members, friends, and coworkers whose hearts are all broken by the tragic ending of her life.
