Kristin Kaye Gwin Fagan
December 21st, 2017
Kristin Kaye Gwin Fagan, 43, passed peacefully on December 21, 2017 at her home in Arlington, VA after courageously batting breast cancer for eight years. Kristin is survived by her husband, Keith; son, Jax; parents Robert (Bob) and Donna; grandparents, Jim and Jean, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a lifetime of friends who loved her dearly. Born the only child of Bob and Donna in Warren, Ohio. Growing up in Manassas, Virginia, Kristin excelled academically, and enjoyed adding new stray pets to the family. Through many backyard ball sessions with her dad, she became the starting 3rd baseman on the Osbourn Park High School softball team. She spoke often of the summers spent in Ohio with her grandparents and extended family as some of her favorite memories. Kristin graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1996 with a degree in Biology, and went on to get her Master’s degree at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. After her time in North Carolina, she briefly lived in Cincinnati, Ohio and Pensacola, Florida before setting back down in the Northern Virginia area to work for the United States Department of Agriculture, and later the United States Department of State. Her career balanced perfectly with her passion for world travel. Keith and Kristin married in October 2006 and welcomed their son Jax in September 2013. Kristin was born with a strong independent and determined spirit, and is known for being fiercely loyal to those she loved. She was never afraid to speak the truth and always ready for a good laugh. She loved meeting up with friends to explore new countries, share a bottle of wine or watch a Washington Capitals game. Everyone loved being in her company. Kristin was an active member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church in Arlington, VA and a volunteer for adoration of the exposition of the sacrament and RCIA program after converting to Catholicism in 2012. Friends may call on Wednesday December 27, 2017 from 10am-12pm at the Advent funeral home, 7211 Lee Highway Falls, Church, VA 22046. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00pm at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 1910 N Randolph Street, Arlington VA 22207. She will be laid to rest at Fairfax Memorial Park, 4401 Burke Station Road, Fairfax, VA 22032 on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 1:00pm.
