James "Jim" E. Kingsbury Age 75

On Friday, October 27, 2017, James E. Kingsbury, USAF (retired) of Springfield, VA, died after a long battle with diabetes and kidney disease. He was born on August 19, 1942 in Evansville, IN to Harold and Norma Kingsbury and was older brother to Michael Kingsbury of Indio, CA. Jim graduated from San Francisco State College in 1964 where he met and married his beautiful wife Virginia sharing over 50 years of love together. He was father to Kimberley and son-in-law Robert Wooding of Springfield, Tracy and son-in-law Alan Bank of Springfield, and Christopher Kingsbury and daughter-in-law Yuko of Scarsdale, NY. He was also proud grandfather to Gillian, Natalie and Theodore. Jim retired from the US Air Force as a Major after 20 years of service to his country, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. During his service he also completed a Master’s Degree in Public Administration through the University of Oklahoma. In the private sector, he worked as a business development director and consultant for several government contracting firms in the Washington, DC area. Jim had a great appreciation for driving and restoring cars, Japanese art, history, fishing, football, good food, movies, lively music, and spending time with his family. He loved the beauty of gardens, and loved his many miniature Schnauzers. Memorial services will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Burke, VA on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 9:30 am. He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Jim requested that donations be given to St. Andrews Episcopal Preschool at 6509 Sydenstricker Road, Burke VA 22015.
