MARINA LAVADENZ RIBERA RAMPAZZO April 23, 1928 – July 26, 2017 Passed away peacefully on July 26, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. With grace and dignity, she bravely endured her later years, as well as bouts of growing dementia during the last 3 years. Marina was born in Cobija, Bolivia, on April 23, 1928. She was the daughter of Alberto Lavadenz Reyes and Modesta Ribera Menacho, and the wife of Segundo Rampazzo. Her family moved to the United States in the late sixties. She became a resident in August 1972, and, after living in Venice, Italy, with her husband for about 5 years, after her husband’s passing, she returned to the United States, and she remained in this country for the rest of the life. She was a kind, generous lady with a great sense of humor and was always happiest when surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a son, Ivan Rampazo (Tina Westbrook), her grandson Tyler Timothy Rampazzo, a brother Julio Lavadenz in Bolivia, nieces and nephews Jorge Ordenes Lavadenz, Oscar Ordenes Lavadenz, Martha Lavadenz de Lopez, Roberto Lavadenz, Deborah Sevier Lavadenz, John Sevier Lavadenz, Isabel Lavadenz Paccieri, Marietta Robbins Lavadenz, Sandra Scioville Wagner Lavadenz, Rebecca Tamayo Wagner Lavadenz, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews and their families. Marina was the last of the Lavadenz Ribera generation in the United States. The family’s gratitude and appreciation is extended to Walter Weedman for all his generosity, constant help and kindness towards Marina. Special gratitude is also extended to Maria Gomez and her family (Napoleon, Dan, Jafet and Lineth), Martha Chavez, Norma Barrientos and Ana Zeballos, who became dedicated caregivers and members of the family and affectionately and loyally cared for her during her last 5 years. A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Advent Funeral Home, 7211 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA. Parking at the funeral home’s two lots is limited, but additional parking can be found on-street (W. Cameron Road, W. Greenway Blvd., W. George Mason Road). A mass will be held on Monday, August 7, at 10:00 am at St. James Catholic Church, 905 Park Avenue, Falls Church, VA. A reception will follow at Geller Hall, St. James Catholic School (across from St. James Catholic Church). Interment will be private.
