Jeffrey James Lutzke (also known as Ski) , 74 years of age, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24th at his home in Alexandria, VA. Jeffrey was born on August 14th, 1942 in Saginaw, MI. He was the son of Henry Karl Lutzke and Barbara June Thoms. At 18, he enrolled at Michigan State University. He would later sustain an injury while playing football. Around 1962, he left Michigan State University and enlisted in the United States Navy. He became an Internal Communications Technician aboard United States’ submarines after completing boot camp in San Diego, CA. Jeff journeyed around the world and had many adventures. Some of his duty stations included California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Washington DC, Cuba & Virginia. He loved to travel and visited many of the states and made many trips to Puerto Rico. He retired from his last career in Security and Installation for the Charles County school board. Jeff is survived by Carmen J. Lutzke, his devoted and loving wife of 30 years. They were united in marriage January 3rd 1987. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sisters Barbara and her husband Jim Doidge, Bonnie Scherzer and her partner Rob Heise and Cindi, along with her husband Dave Beardsley. His children, son Fredrick Oliver, and his partner Rene Rios Oliver, daughter Jessica Adams, and son-in-law Christopher Adams Sr. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jason Oliver and his wife Rina SanMiguel, Chris Pardue, Tessa Pardue, Gabriellia and her husband Douglas Houston, Christoper Adams II, Emily Adams and great-grandchildren Lucas and Dexter Morin. His step-mom Delores Oswald and family. Jeff is preceded in death by his daughter Lorrie Rae Lutzke-Oliver and granddaughter Christina Michelle Lutzke. A Michigan boy at heart, he was born with a fishing pole in his hand and always had a fish tale to tell, “(He) Had to give the bear a stick to have a fair fight.” He had a love of the beauty nature had to offer from fresh air and sunshine to mountains, rivers, lakes, beaches, any beautiful scenery nature painted and the animals that inhabited them. He made his own rules, forged his own path and never met a stranger along the way. Upon Jeff’s wishes, no services will be held. He will be cremated and will take one last underway aboard a Navy ship where his ashes will be laid to rest among the scenery he loved. Fair winds and following seas our hero, you will be forever loved and missed.
