Nola Jean Harrison
June 20th, 2017
Nola Jean Harrison, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia. Born on November 15, 1928 in Muskegon County, Michigan, she was the eldest daughter of Albert and Adie (Roher) Weber. Jean grew up on the farm with her siblings Ralph, Lorelei, Ruth, Helen and Glen. She graduated High School and shortly after was recruited to work for the government which she accepted and moved to Washington D.C. in 1950 to look for new adventures. While working for the Veterans Administration, the adventure she found would be meeting the love of her life, the charismatic Robert “Bob”, on a day trip to North Beach, Maryland. She loved the beach. Married on August 4, 1952, together they built a family and a happy home in Arlington County. Jean spent most of her adult life lovingly raising her two sons and proudly keeping up her home. Later, she found working for Arlington County Schools and volunteering with her church to be a fulfilling way to spend her time. Feisty to the bone, she loved to travel and did it often, always with a flare. Survived by her two sons, Steven Dennis (Ana) Harrison and Alan Wade (Dawn Habermehl) Harrison; her four grandchildren, Michelle Lisa (Jorge) Pardillo, Ryan McBride Harrison, Sara Marie Harrison and Dianna Grace Harrison; three great-grandchildren, Monica Lavana Pardillo, Lea Marie Pardillo and Matthew Ryan Harrison; siblings, Lorelei Moyes, Helen Hill and Glen Weber; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Joyce Giardina of Hawaii. Predeceased by her husband, Robert Chastine Harrison; daughter-in-law, Cathy Harrison; and siblings, Ralph Weber and Ruth Weber. Services will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 12:00 pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 415 South Lexington Street, Arlington, Virginia, with Reverend Ann Barker officiating. Future interment will be held in private at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Jean’s name to St. John’s Episcopal Church. Reception following at Jean’s home.
