William "Bill" W. Cooper

William Weber Cooper of Glenn Dale, Maryland died at home on February 27, 2017. Bill was comforted in his final weeks by all of his nine children, as well as family and friends. A devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Air Force officer, aviator, poet, origami master, NASA employee from the Apollo 7 program to the Space Shuttle and Space Station, and proud Vietnam Veteran, patriot and federal government retiree. Bill attended St, John’s College High School in Washington, DC, London Central High School in London, England (1957), St. Thomas College in Minneapolis, and the University of Maryland at College Park (1962). He is survived by his brother, John; children, Bill, John, Karl, Tom, Kit, Eric, Cecily, Meg and Frank; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his longtime companion, Catherine Hardy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross Hospice, 11800 Tech Rd, #240, Silver Spring, MD 20904
