Advent Funeral & Cremation Services - Falls Church
William "Bill" Stanton Forester
February 9th, 2017
William Stanton Forester (Bill), 80, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 in Falls Church, Virginia from complications of Parkinson’s disease. A memorial service will be held at the Falls Church Anglican worship center, 6565 Arlington Blvd., Falls Church on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 10:00 am. Bill’s ashes will be buried at a later date in Corydon Cemetery, Corydon, Kentucky. Bill was born in Washington, D.C. to Oliver and Tommy Edith Forester on May 9, 1936. He earned a BS in Chemistry at Western Kentucky University, a MA in English Literature at Indiana University and a MA in American Studies at the University of Louisville. He began his work career writing for the Indianapolis Star newspaper, the Washington Post and American Chemical Society before he combined his talent in writing with his love of the environment to first work for the Kentucky Department of Natural Resources where his reputation earned an offer to work for the American Public Works Association in Chicago as head of the Solid Waste and Hazardous Waste Management department. Transferring to their Washington office brought him back to the DC area where he settled his family in Falls Church, Virginia. After retirement, Bill showed his love of lifelong learning by working at the Phi Beta Kappa office at the University of Maryland part time while taking Environmental Science courses. Outside of work Bill loved ushering at the Shakespeare Theater, volunteering in local environmental causes and was very involved in his church. Unfortunately health problems slowed Bill down in the last few years. Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Donna, daughter, Susan Richter (Steve), his brother, Ron Forester (Nancy), his sister, Mary Edith Pritchett, and one granddaughter, Emily Richter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bill to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Bill’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. El-Menshawi and the INOVA Cares for Seniors PACE program.
