Michael Scott Dietrich, (Mikey) of Springfield, VA. Mikey Dietrich, 59, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2019, following a brief illness. Mikey was born on December 18th , 1959, in Berlin, Germany, to Werner and Marianne Dietrich. Mikey grew up in McLean, Virginia, where he enjoyed watching TV, listening to music, going for car rides, and playing with toys. As an adult, Mikey was a resident of Northern Virginia Training Center for many years, where he was well-loved for his friendly spirit and infectious smile. He spent the last several years enjoying life at a group home in the company of caregivers and housemates. He was predeceased by his father, Werner G. Dietrich, and his mother, Marianne Hersel Dietrich. He is survived by his sisters, Michele Allen, and Bridget (Donald) Scott, two nephews, Brian (Kim) Allen, and Derek (Kelly) Scott, and two nieces, Ashleigh (Nam) Le, and Tara (Jason) Fox. A loving son and brother, he was a very gentle person who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM, on Sunday October 27, at Fairfax Christian Church, 10185 Main Street, Fairfax, VA. He will be laid to rest next to his mother and father in a private ceremony at Culpeper National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CRi, 14160 Newbrook Drive, Chantilly, VA.
