Steven Steinberg died on December 2, 2016 at his home in Falls Church, Virginia. The cause of death was pancreatic cancer. He is mourned by his wife, Lorene; children, Sylvie Hauser and Robert Steinberg; and sister, Marci Rose. Steve earned a BA from the State University of NY at Buffalo and a master’s degree in criminology from the University of Maryland. Prior to his retirement, Steve Steinberg worked as a supervisor of the child abuse unit at D.C. Superior Court and later as an adjudicator in Diplomatic Security for the U.S. Department of State. Steve was devoted to his family above all things. He was also a Yankee fan, golfer, and good friend to all he loved. He was wise in his judgments and invariably kind and generous. His death is a loss to all who knew him. A memorial will be held in a few months’ time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online to the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health atwww.fnih.org. In the gift note section, specify that the donation be set aside for pancreatic cancer research. Or a check or money order payable to the National Cancer Institute may be sent to:National Cancer Institute Attn.
