Loving Mother and Wife February 17, 1958 – February 26, 2016 Patricia Ann Beckford (58) of Lanham, MD passed away on February 26, 2016. Patricia was born in Dayton, OH on February 17, 1958 to Ruth and Richard Rockwell. Patricia in her life had an adventurous free spirit. She rode horses, held birds and went to Beatles concerts. It was that spirit that set her out to marry her 1st love Danny at the age of 16. They didn’t work out and they went their separate ways; hers being on the way to a new adventure and a new day. She decided to travel the country to as many places she could go. And by the time she made it to Atlanta at the age of 25 she was ready to bring her first child into the world, a baby girl. A couple years later when it was time for somewhere new, it was DC she wanted to go to. That is where she met a man named Larry and they fell madly in love. He had a daughter and son from previous marriages and with her daughter they made their separate families as one. They married, bought a house and soon welcomed a son, another boy, a girl and a girl once more. Everyone that came to meet her immediately knew her big heart. She dedicated the rest of her life to sharing that part. Everyone called her Mama instead of her name. She was the mother of all mothers to everyone in her life. Well-loved from her family and neighbors and any friend she made, taking care and showing kindness to all those around her in need. She was a wife, a daughter, a sister and best friend. A savior to so many and protector to the end. Eventually her heart was too much for her to contain and she had to move on to those that needed her more in more pain. We will greatly miss our mother. Patricia is survived by her loving husband Lawrence Sr, and children Juanita, Larry Jr, Albert, Richard, Anna and her youngest Jessica. Daughter-in-law Sarah and 5 grand-children. A sister, a brother, her mother Ruth and so many more that will go on to remember her and her love to the end of their days. Memorial services will be held at Advent Funeral Home at 9013 Annapolis Rd in Lanham, MD 20706 on Thursday March 10th from 5-9pm and Friday March 11, 2016 at 11am.
