Carlester Troy Thompson, Jr., lovingly known by his family as “Little Troy,” was born March 24, 1955 to the late Attris Troy Thompson and Ophelia Thompson, in Washington D.C. Troy, an only child, was dearly loved by his family. He was an exceptional student, who graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School. He pursued a medical degree at Johns Hopkins University, until he discovered his time was best spent learning about the Highest Personage in the universe, Jehovah God. He then dedicated his life to his God, on October 27, 1979. Troy met his wife Maxine Gray in 1976, and was immediately enchanted not only with her beauty and spiritual qualities, but especially with her deep love for Jehovah God. After some time, Troy asked Maxine for her hand and they were married on July 6, 1985. He remained wholly devoted to his Boope’ until his death. His deep love for her was evident to all who knew them, especially was it seen in his attentiveness to her in times of need or when lovingly holding her hand. He was so at peace with his wife, he would often say “spending time with you at home, is like being on vacation”. He was deeply loved and respected by his wife and she was a constant at his side for thirty years. Troy developed a strong work ethic from his parents. Those who worked closely with him on any project, can attest to that fact. For the past ten years, he was employed with the Revenue Authority of Prince George’s County, and held the position of Chief Operations Officer. Prior to that he served as the Senior Area Manager for Standard Parking Corporation. His oversight was marked with dignity, honesty, and respect; reflecting the qualities which he held so dear. Troy was an exceptional public speaker, and his powerful voice arrested audiences at assemblies and conventions. However, his talent as a public speaker, paled to his enthusiastic teaching ability. He and his wife, enjoyed visiting and building up congregations in the entire metropolitan area, while he served as a substitute traveling overseer for the past eighteen years. He also had other theocratic privileges: serving as an elder for 26 years, a regular pioneer for 28 years, an assembly overseer, and more recently as the rooming overseer for our regional conventions. In 2014, he was overjoyed to be in attendance, and have oversight of security, at an International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Landover, Maryland. Troy will be remembered for his gregarious personality and infectious way of making others smile. He enjoyed speaking with people, and had a great sense of humor. Best known for his bear hugs and thunderous laughter, young and old alike, loved to be in his presence. Troy helped many in the community draw closer to God, by improving the quality of their life through a study of the bible. He exhausted over seventy hours each month, ministering to others at no cost, and without complaint. Similar to the apostle Paul, Troy could say: “For my part, I will most gladly spend and be completely spent for you. If I love you so much more, am I to be loved the less?” (2 Corinthians 12:15) We all felt his love, and we were the better for it. Through his faith in the promise of everlasting life and a resurrection of the dead, our hope is sounded down. As God yearns to bring back those who have fallen asleep in death, we too look forward to seeing our dearest Troy again; smiling and laughing anew. (Job 14:14, 15) Troy was preceded in death by his father, Troy, Sr. His memory will be cherished by his devoted wife, Maxine and his mother Ophelia. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law (Velma Edwards), two sisters-in-law (Shelly Terry, and her husband Leon, and Delaney Ebo, and her husband Kester), two uncles (Basil Thompson, and his wife Gail; James Thompson, and his wife Mildred), an aunt (Carolyn Eason “Toots”), two cousins (Ronald Thompson and Patricia Tracy), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, loyal friends, and spiritual sons and daughters who claim him as their own. MEMORIAL DATE & LOCATION: Saturday, January 30, 2016 – 1:00 PM Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 6102 Ager Road, Hyattsville, MD 20782
