Cora Crouthamel

Cora Trauger Crouthamel passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at her home in Greenspring Village in Springfield, VA. She was born in Doylestown, PA on December 29, 1919 to Laura and Lloyd Trauger. She was a graduate of Doylestown High School and West Chester State Teacher’s College. In 1945, Cora married Edward O. Crouthamel and together they raised four children. Cora spent many years teaching kindergarten in the New Hope and Central Bucks School Districts in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Helen Franchois, Dumfries, VA, David and Elizabeth Crouthamel , North San Juan, CA, Jean and Joseph Castagnola, New Millford, CT and Nancy Spinosa, Alexandria, VA. She was also blessed with 12 grandchildren: Nicole, Keith, Eric, Kelly, Andrew, Laura, Adrienne, Steven, Leann, Jonathon, Daniel and Louisa as well as eleven great-grandchildren: Emily, Madison, Hannah, Jeremy, Andrew, Nicholas, Danielle, Katie, Avery, Owen and Aiden. Cora was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was known as the “Knitting Lady” at her home in Greenspring Village. She delighted many with her knitted dolls, stuffed animals, aphgans and scarves. She was a blessing to her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
