LaDonna Michelle White
September 6th, 2015
II Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” LaDonna Michelle White, affectionately called “Boogie”, was born on February 5. 1968 to then Esther and William Thomas. She was a beautiful baby girl that was reared in a loving home; she was the oldest to four siblings and took great pride in making sure that her younger sisters were looked after by her and were well loved. In one way or another she treated each one of them as if they were here own. Educated in the Prince Georges County public school system, LaDonna attended Greenbelt Elementary School, Samuel Ogle Middle School, Bowie Senior High School, and graduated class of 1986. She was very studious and loved learning. Her sisters can recall having teachers who had LaDonna before; in elementary through high school, that would speak very highly of her. Her teachers looked forward to instructing her siblings because of the example she had set. They had big shoes to fill. LaDonna was very creative and at an early age developed a passion for braiding hair long before she entered cosmetology school. She had an entrepreneurial spirit and grew a large clientele base from within her community, school, family and church. She decided to expand her gift and craft of doing hair into a professional career by graduating from New Carrolton Beauty School. Hair was her thing! She was one of the best Master Cosmetologists in the Maryland/ DC area. She had creativity and style like none other. Some of her favorite hair styles were braids, weaves, pinups, wraps, finger waves, pin curls that were finished with her signature “gold spray.” Ladonna owned her first hair salon within the first five years after graduating high school. LaDonna was passionate about business and always worked hard, but outside of work she loved hanging out with family and friends, going to church, singing, making people laugh (she was so comical), bowling, skating, shopping, watching movies, and meeting and befriending new people. There wasn’t a person that met her that didn’t love her. On October 9, 1994 at 8:30 p.m. LaDonna met the love of her life John March White. From John’s account it was love at first sight. They were united in holy matrimony on October 7, 1995. In 1999 Aleya Wilder became a part of their lives at 4 months old; they received her as their own…on May 29, 2003 she gave birth to John March White Jr.; her LJ. LaDonna and John were blessed and honored to be parents, and instilled a love for God in their babies. LaDonna and John shared a beautiful union full of love, devotion, and true friendship; they were inseparable. LaDonna gave her heart and life to the Lord as a young girl. She felt a strong call to ministry that began very early in her life; she preached her first sermon at the age of 13. She had a heart that drew people to the Lord. It simply began with listening to the needs of others, praying with and for them, encouraging and exhorting them. God gave her a prophetic gift that was used to reach those who were hurting, broken, lonely and lost. She was a humble servant of the Lord. LaDonna is survived by her devoted husband John White Sr., her beloved son and daughter John White Jr. and Aleya Wilder, her Father William Thomas and step mother Marilyn Thomas. Four sisters and three brother-in-laws: Ann Wilson and Douglas Wilson Sr., Tonya Deal and James Deal, Tarsha Snead and Edward Snead and Angelina Holland. Four Aunts: Joyce Browne, Geardin Thompson, Suzzie May Thomas, and Sharon Thomas, 13 nieces and nephews: Brittni Snead, Douglas Wilson Jr., Tiffany-Alan- Sharayah-Ariana-Deanna-Unique-Tyrus-Elon and Shiloh Wilson, Hayden and Leyah Deal, a host family, god-children, god-sisters and brothers, extended family and friends. LaDonna’s visitation will be held at City of Praise Church, 8501 Jericho City Dr, Landover, MD 20785 on Thursday, September 17th at 10am until the time of her service at 11am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, Maryland. A Heart Issue A heart issue right? That’s what they said you had. But I beg to differ and truly disagree for God gave you a heart pure and true like his. A heart that was limitless, unending, far reaching and ever expanding. You were always loving, giving, sharing and caring. Your physical heart didn’t seem to have the capacity to house and distribute all the life and love you had. With each involuntary heart beat you would seek the Lord for whose need he wanted you to meet. It was with your beautiful smile, brilliant creativity, infectious laughter, angelic voice, encouraging words and your gentle touch. Your heart never lacked the ability to feel and touch people where they were really hurting. It’s amazing how selfless you were, your heart’s condition seemingly weak and frail, yet strong and equipped. You ministered God’s word and fulfilled his will through your affliction; you stayed strong in your weakness for it was your pulpit. Your physical state seemed to confine you and slowed you down, but the spirit of God and his life and love inside of you transcended and defied every one of those boundaries. Self-pity was not a characteristic that you embodied; for you lived everyday saying “Lord not my will”. You touched lives, inspired many, gave light in dark places, and became hope and love to those who were yearning. A heart issue, yes now I see. It was God’s will to set you free; free from the limitations of that little, red, ticker. Why? He gave you the revelation to know the breadth, and the length, depth and height of the love of Christ which you deposited into everyone’s life. You lived a sacrificial life. Your earthly heart was too small to contain such an enormous gift and treasure, so now you’re free and each one of the lives, that you’ve touched, has been changed forever.
