Gerald Lynn Akers 71, of Dallas, NC went to be with the lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Kingsport to the late Elza and Annie Hall Akers. Gerald was a very caring and loving person who never met a stranger and was always ready to play. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Begley; brother, Claude Akers; infant sister, Geneva Akers; nephews, Terry and Teddy Begley.
Survivors include his sisters, Norma Jean Moore and Wanda Akers; along with a several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1pm on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport with Pastor Larry Browder officiating. Those wishing to attend are ask to arrive by 12:50pm.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3pm on Friday following the funeral at the Carter Family Cemetery in Ft. Blackmore. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:50pm.
