Doris Jean Longmore entered eternal life on May 31, 2024. She was born October 26, 1936, to Christian & Gladys Anderson in Nevada, Missouri. She lived in Stotesbury, MO and graduated from Hume High School in 1956. After graduation, she moved to Southern California to work in home health care and child daycare. She met Ivan Longmore and they were married February 7, 1970. They moved to Mountain Home in 1981. Doris continued working as an in-home caregiver. She worked for Raymond & Mary Demeyer and Clifford Johnson.
She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. She was an active member of the “Altar Society,” now Mother Cabrini Sodality. In her years in Altar Society, she served as president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. For twenty years she was chairman of the funeral dinner committee. She organized the food, set-up, serving, and clean-up. She helped with the St. Patrick Day Dinners and the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. She was a member of the church choir and hung song numbers each week for Mass. She supported our CCD youth program with dozens of cookies she baked. She was famous for her pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. She was also in the bible study groups.
She was involved with the cancer survivors’ group and helped with “Relay for Life” walkathon.
While Doris was in California, she took a creative writing course. Many in her circle of friends received poems she had written. They will be treasured memories of the quiet, kind, caring, and loving person she was.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and husband Ivan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society in care of our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.

We Entrusted Doris Longmore's Care To
Rost Funeral Home
As the only funeral home in Elmore County, the staff at Rost Funeral Home work hard to be active members of the Mountain Home community and to be there to take care of families in every way possible when the need arises. Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
