Maureen Ann Rinehart Cue

Maureen Ann Rinehart Cue passed away on May 26, 2024 after a brief illness.
A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Donations can be made in her memory: Animal Humane NM 615 Virgina St SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, www.animalhumanenm.org
Maureen was born in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque on September 18, 1934. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Cue, her son, Scott Dale Cue, her parents, Howard and Ethel Rinehart, and her sister, Marlene Fredericks. She is survived by her daughter, Myles Winter, of Corrales, NM, her son, Howard Cue and his wife, Samantha, of Rio Rancho, NM, her grandson, Devon Cue and his wife, Jade, of Bend, OR, her brother, Howard Lawrence Rinehart of Phoenix, AZ, her cousin, LaVonne Reynolds, of Aurora, CO, her best friend, Fay Runck, of Corrales, NM, her two adored, cherished, cats, BB, and Little Guy, as well as dozens of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Maureen graduated from Albuquerque High School. She married SSgt Eugene Cue on June 7, 1957. She was a brilliant and talented artist, skilled in many forms of media, including watercolor, batik, and stained glass. She belonged to many organizations during her lifetime, including the Watercolor Society of NM, the National League of American Pen Women, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Red Hats Society, and was one of the original co-founders of the Amapola Gallery in Old Town. She was a long standing member of Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church. In addition to her extensive art portfolio, she and her husband, Gene, designed and built two houses, and she learned woodworking in order to carve their 200 lb door. She learned how to drive a semi at age 50. She survived a very aggressive form of cancer 25 years ago. In short, Maureen was a badass. She was a voracious reader. She fangirled over Elvis Presley. She had a wicked sense of humor. She was an avid believer in positive affirmations and was a woman of strong faith. She loved holidays and parties and travel and crafts. She loved cats and movies and shopping and strawberry shortcake. She is remembered for her creativity, her funny stories, her warm smile, her laugh, and her loving and generous heart.
