Lucinda “Syndi” Gardner Lopez, 63, passed away Sunday June 17, 2018 in Asheville, North Carolina. Family and friends are invited to gather between 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday June 28, 2018 at the Jefferson House, 225 West Mountain Street, Kernersville, North Carolina for a celebration of Syndi's life. Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV at a later date. Syndi was born to the late William Odell Gardner, Sr. and Vonda McIntyre Gardner on August 15, 1954, in Dade County, Florida. Her family relocated to Kernersville in 1964 where she lived until entering into military service in 1976. She met her late husband Carlos Lopez in Las Vegas, NV and they were married in 1985. Syndi and Carlos made their home in Las Vegas where they raised their two daughters. During her short time here Syndi had many accomplishments and a variety of interests. She is best known as an outgoing and loving wife, mother and sister. She is also a graduate from East Forsyth High School, class of 1972 as well as a graduate of UNLV with a Degree in Communications. She was a U.S. Air Force veteran, an entrepreneur, a small business owner and a public school teacher. She was a member of the International Order of Rainbow Girls and the Order of the Eastern Star. When not traveling or spending time with family and friends she enjoy photography, volunteer work at a local exotic animal zoo in Nevada and caring for the families many pets including dogs, cats, horses, and her beloved kangaroos. Syndi is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer Wilson (Alan) and Melissa Lopez; granddaughter, Aerilyn Wilson; brothers, Dell Gardner (Hayet) and Randy Gardner; and many extended family and friends.
