Glenn W. Cording, 92, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 23, 2017. Glenn was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on February 11, 1925 and lived his first few years on a family farm in Osceola, WI. He graduated from Wilson High School in St. Paul. He enlisted in the Navy and served as a Navy Pilot during World War II, while stationed in Pensacola, FL. He played the trumpet in the University of Minnesota marching band and received his degree in architecture before marrying Shirley Quam on September 16, 1950. They lived in a house he designed in Golden Valley, MN with their three children and enjoyed many family road trips and flights in Glenn’s Cherokee 180 plane. He worked for a few architecture firms prior to establishing his own business, Cording-Natwick Associates, now known as CNH Architects. Glenn designed many county buildings, schools, and buildings for Ziegler Caterpillar. He especially enjoyed designing churches. Glenn and Shirley retired to a home on Lake Ida, MN where family and friends often gathered to swim, water-ski, boat, and sail. After his wife, Shirley, died in 1991, he remarried Lois Johnson in August of 1994. They moved to Colorado Springs, attended First Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed concerts and sightseeing. Glenn happily shared his musical talent with others, including singing in the choir, and playing the organ at church, trumpet with friends, and piano at family holidays. He was a gifted artist and a true animal lover, as well. In his later years, he loved to volunteer with Project Angel Heart, delivering food to people with life-threatening illnesses. He was honored in December, 2015 as volunteer of the month. Glenn is survived by his wife, Lois Johnson Cording; his children, Diane Cording, Gail Ostergren, and Paul Cording; step-sons, Kevin Johnson and Steve Johnson; grandchildren, Steve, Kristen, Laura, and Heidi; step-grandchildren, Rachel, Paul, and Luke; brother-in-law, Don Campbell; sister-in-law, Jean Yeager, and several nephews and nieces, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; William and Pearl Cording; his wife, Shirley Cording; sister, Joyce Campbell; brothers-in-law, Gale Quam, Fred Yeager, and Earl Erickson; sisters-in law, Jeanne Quam and Lois Erickson. At Glenn’s request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project Angel Heart at www.projectangelheart.org.
