Sharon Smith Thompson, 80, of Kernersville, NC went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 3, 2021. A native of Halifax County, VA, Sharon was the wife of 53 years to the late Randy Lee Thompson and the daughter of Chester Warren Smith and Edna Yates Smith, both deceased. Survivors include her daughters, Angela Dunn of Chesterfield, VA, and Tracy Ward and husband, Dean of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Dylan Ward, Trevor Ward, Zoe Ward, Jessie Dunn, and Tiffany Lopez; great grandchildren, Ensley Ward, Gia Ward, Gwen Wahl, Serenity Lopez, and Donovan Lopez; sisters, Sandra Talley and husband, Fontaine Talley, and Rita Saunders and husband, Clyde Saunders; and brother, Charles Smith and wife, Della Smith. In addition to her husband and parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her brother, Nelson Ray Smith. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 11:30AM Friday, October 8, 2021 at Union Cross Baptist Church with Dr. Kent Kern and Rev. Chris Talley officiating. A private interment will be held at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. A public viewing will be held from 11:00AM to 11:30AM prior to the service at the church. The family will greet friends immediately follow the service in the church.
