Powell C. Peddycord
April 29th, 1946 - February 26th, 2023
Powell C. Peddycord, 76 of Winston-Salem, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 26, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Forsyth County on April 29, 1946 to Henley and Alva Peddycord. He graduated from East Forsyth High School and after graduation served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Manley. After the Navy he was a draftsman at the Bahnson Company in Winston-Salem. For the past 21 years he worked part-time at Kohls in Kernersville. He was a faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown, NC for over fifty years where he served the Lord in his quiet manner. He was a master wood carver and his hobby was carving birds, flowers, animals and anything he wanted to make. He had the hands of an artist and it showed in his carvings that he loved to give to friends and family. He was predeceased by his parents, Henley and Alva Peddycord; two brothers, Duke Peddycord and Keith Peddycord. He is survived by his sister; Sonya M. Sturgill and husband Dale of Denver, NC; sister-in-law, Joanne Peddycord of Germanton, NC. Also surviving are two nieces, Lisa Denny (Dwight) of King, NC and April Maynard of Rural Hall, NC. He has several great nieces, great nephew and four great- great nieces. Funeral services will be held 12:00PM Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Matt Morrison and Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family will greet friends from 11:00AM to 12:00PM Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Friends and family may offer online condolences at www.piercejeffersonfh.com
